Weekly Photo Challenge: My 2012 in Pictures (from The Daily Post, 12/28/12)

In 2012 we said goodbye to our 22 & 1/2 year old rescue cat Zoe.bye bye zoe

After a short time of mourning we welcomed two new cats to our home.

thunder cute 010lightningThunder, who is mainly my cat, and Lightning, who is mainly my husband’s cat.  These sisters, now 9 years old,  like their own separate spaces.

We did not travel very much in 2012 but there were a few day trips to Boston, plus a long weekend or two also.

The Daily Post Word Prompt

Thanks to a post at Living The Seasons I just became aware of the Daily Prompt at the Daily Post.   “michelle w.” authored this prompt:

Where were you last night when 2012 turned into 2013?
Is that where you’d wanted to be?

I had my head on my pillow and my eyes were shut, probably sound asleep, as the clock reached 12-midnight.  I had been reading in bed since about 10 pm but my eyes, along with the rest of me were tiring.  I think I had turned the light off around 10:35.    At 10:58 I eyed the bedside clock as I heard my husband entering our bedroom.  That is all I remember until waking on New Years Day 2013.   I was happy to be home and tucked into my own bed.  I am quite certain home is where our cats preferred their parents to be too.  After all it was their first New Years Eve in a new home.

Six Word Friday – Voice

Use your voice, make a choice.

face offAlthough they are sisters they squabble.

They hiss and hesitate in passing.

But Thunder comes down the stairs,

and Lightning fleas up very quickly,

Each returning to their home territory.

Six Word Friday – CAPTIVE

Held captive by my cat Thunder.

No escaping a determined lap cat.

Thunder in “her” chair.

I had so much fun preparing a slide show of my black cat Thunder for today’s “Thoughtful Thursday” post that I am going to share another.

Thoughtful Thursday # 25 – What makes you smile?

What makes you smile like nothing smile like nothing else can?

At this particular point in my life my new cat Thunder makes me smile like nothing else can. She is independent at times, as any cat ought to be.  Yet at other times she is a lap cat or cuddly cat.  She has a habit of rolling on to her back, crossing her front paws, and giving the most longing look.  Playing with her toy on a stick is what she wants when she does that.
