Word for 12/15 – Engraved

The way gravestones are engraved was changed over the years, as these photos show:

20th Century

21st Century

  1. My first thought for this post was of a cemetery we visited on vacation, but I stumbled onto another cloud picture before I got to those. Some of the old tombstones hold so much info!

    • I have pictures of much older headstones but the engraving did not show up as clearly. The top stone is Vermont Marble with my paternal grandparents names plus a son (would have been my uncle) who died having a tonsillectomy right after his H.S. graduation (as valedictorian at that). The bench is for my mom & dad. It is now less costly to have granite from someplace in Asia rather than native Vermont stone.
